Parishes Against Coastal Erosion (PACE) Announces New Leadership

Baton Rouge, Louisiana
June 15, 2005

On June 15, 2005, Parishes Against Coastal Erosion elected Plaquemines Parish President Benny Rousselle as the new President of PACE, replacing out-going PACE President, Aaron Broussard, President of Jefferson Parish.

Three (3) Vice Presidents were also elected, representing the central, eastern and western coastal parishes, respectively:

Charlotte Randolph, President of Lafourche Parish (central area)
Henry 'Junior' Rodriguez, Jr., President of St. Bernard Parish (eastern area)
Steve Trahan, Police Juror and past Cameron Parish Police Jury President (western area)

PACE was formed in 2003 to organize the affected parishes to assist their individual efforts in raising the important issues of the loss of coastal wetlands to federal and state policy makers, alert their citizenry to the need to be informed and speak out on this issue, and assist in crafting innovative restoration alternatives. Current membership includes twenty-one (21) coastal Louisiana parishes, several coastal Louisiana cities, and some counties and cities in Texas and Mississippi.
